Birthday Mini-Book

What do you do with photos that you printed incorrectly??? Toss them? NO SCRAP THEM! My hubby took these photos at my youngest daughter's first birthday party and I was trying to resize them so they could work with a sketch that I really wanted to use. Unfortunately, I  didn't print them quite right, but I didn't have the heart to throw them out. I don't know, I guess it felt funny throwing my one year old daughter in the garbage :) I bought this mini album at a clearance sale, and it served as the inspiration for this project.

Since the book was so small, I was able to use up some of my scraps to create this mini album that celebrates my baby's first year. So, next time you think of throwing photos out....think again, you may be inspired to create something new :)

Simply Sweet

Every mom loves to capture their child's firsts. First step, first word, first bite of solid food; the list is endless. The photo's for this project were particularly special because they capture my eldest daughter's first time playing in the snow. I wanted to create something unique for her, so I got out one of my favourite idea books,  Donna Downey's Creative Albums, and my creative juices began to flow. I decided to use some old CD's and create a altered CD album.  I really liked the way that it turned out and I will definitely make this project again.

POEM
Falling Snow
By anonymous

See the pretty snowflakes,
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.

On the window ledges,
On the branches bare;
Now how fast they gather,
Falling all the air.
Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green;
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen.

Now the bare black bushes
All look soft and white,
Every twig is laden,
What a pretty sight!

I Love My Afro!

Yes, this is me. And, yes, that is all my hair.
Only a few people have seen my hair in its natural state, so I decided to design a page that is sort of an ode to my hair. Like every woman, I too have my occasional bad hair days, and at times, bad hair SEASONS!!! But all in all, I do really love my hair. Even though it may take a long time to wash it, blow dry it, flat iron it, and style it....I still love it .
So here it is, just me loving my hair :)
